"Being a hunter is so much more noble? A bunch of obsessed, revenge-driven sociopaths trying to save a world that can't be saved. We're all going to hell, Dean. Might as well enjoy the ride."
Bela (pronounced Bella) Talbot is a mercenary and a thief, and proud of it. A dealer in supernatural artifacts and related service, she makes a great deal of money. She's a con artist, but a very well dressed one. Her pickpocketing skills are impressive, as is her communication with the spirit world through her Ouija board.
According to Bobby Singer, Bela knows her way around the hunting world, but she occupies it in a much different way. She scorns hunters as being little more than serial killers driven by vengeance and obsession; she, on the other hand, is asked to do a job, does it, and then is done. She doesn't dwell - or so she says.
Entanglements are important for her to avoid. She wants to be in no one's debt, she doesn't need friends, and she does what she needs to do to take care of herself. She's alone in the world, except for her cat, and she'll insist to her last breath that that is perfectly fine with her.
She keeps her past to herself, mostly because it involves a deal with a demon in which she traded her soul for the death of her abusive parents. She was only fourteen when this deal was made, and ten whole years before the hellhounds come to drag her into hell seemed like a vast amount of time. Now that the 10th anniversary of the deal is only two years away, Bela is running out of time. While she enjoys acquiring wealth by selling valuable supernatural artifacts, the main focus of her life is finding a way out of her deal.
My backstory:
Abby Fischer was beaten regularly from early childhood on by her father for her perceived misbehavior (which often resulted from her mother's lies). When she was fourteen, he began subtle, uncomfortable behaviors (much like Beverly Marsh's father in Stephen King's It) directed towards his daughter's emerging sexuality. Her mother was a bitter alcoholic who was much happier gadding about with the socialite crowd of her peers than mothering. When she did pay attention, it was always in a negative way. She was verbally abusive towards Abby, and hated her for her freakishness (Abby could see and talk to ghosts when she was small).
Abby was brought up by a series of nannies and governesses. She hoped she'd get sent away to boarding school, but instead, she was sent to an exclusive London day school, and she never got to leave her unhappy home.
When she made her deal and her parents murder came to pass, she thought she had what she wanted. With her parents' millions, and very little supervision from the appointed legal guardian who was easily bribed, she lived her life how she pleased. This initially meant entering the jet-setting London party scene. She did sit her O levels, and she even managed to squeak by with a few A levels, even though by then school had become more of a social scene than anything.
She attempted to settle down and try uni, because she knew she was smart enough and rich enough to be anything she wanted. It didn't work out so well, and soon she was back to a shallow life of parties, sex, and drugs. She drifted, by chance, into a shadier London crowd, and began learning fun and interesting things like conning idiots out of money, picking locks, and pickpocketing just for the thrill of it.
When she turned nineteen, however, she realized her deal would be up in five short years. She certainly felt immortal, so she began seeking out ways to get out of it. Her connections in the underworld led her to America, where she was taken by an unscrupulous "demon hunter" who claimed he had a sure way out of the deal. That was a turning point for her, and when she began her current career. It turned out she had talents in regards to speaking with spirits, a gift she can't help but wonder drew the demon to her in the first place.
Already used to using aliases, she abandoned her real name, Abby, for good. She originally went by Isabella Talbot, but since the male-dominated world in which she moved never took her seriously, she quickly changed that name to Bela. She also abandoned the country of her birth. New York has far fewer bad memories, or people who might have known her when she was Abby.
She got revenge on the hunter, but she hasn't found a way out, and in the darkest, sleepless nights, she's beginning to worry that she might not find one, after all. See this thread for more backstory, tying in with canon.
She copes by not thinking about it overly much. She lives entirely in the present, and takes what she wants whenever she wants it. She doesn't abuse drugs or alcohol; in her line of work, she needs her wits about her. She does, however, enjoy Valium. It helps her smooth the jagged edges she's created for self-protection when they begin to cut too deeply.
Bela is currently twenty-three-years old; she won't have her first encounter with the Winchester brothers for another year or so. She'll be played pre-canon, so as to not interfere or jump ahead of current plot.
She is pretty much as she looks in her icons. She's about 5'7", but she does wear taller heels pretty regularly. She's British, and so she speaks with an accent. She is very stylish, and she carries herself with confidence.
Bela Talbot is from the third season of Supernatural, and is the property of Eric Kripke, CW, and Lauren Cohan. She appears here solely for the purpose of role-playing in , from which no profit whatsoever is being made. She is borrowed by
